"Ich bedankte mich, aber ich wusste, dass er vergeblich hoffte - das Glück machte normalerweiser einen Bogen um mich."
So I tought "Ich bedankte mich" was "I thanked myself" but when I looked at the translation (in the Dutch book) it says it's "I thanked him"... but why is it "mich" and not "ihm"? Because I thought "him" was "ihm"..
